Hot Plate Welding
Hot plate welding has been around for decades and is one of the original methods used for welding plastics. This process utilizes a heated die that is pressed against the areas to be welded. Once enough heat is transferred into the part and the weld areas are melted, the die is moved aside and the parts are joined together. This process tends to be messy and somewhat inefficient due to the regular die cleanings that are required. We still run several hot plate welding applications today, but have newer technologies to offer for your project. Contact a Wabash engineer to discuss your application and whether hot plate welding is the right process for your project.
